The African Opportunity: Renewable Energy, Mining and Natural Resources

For those of you who are into renewable Energy, the continent has immense potential for renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, hydro, and geothermal power. My friends in this segment and my husband, an enthusiast of renewable energy, tell me that many countries are taking steps to increase their energy generation capacity and reduce dependency on fossil fuels. There are opportunities for investments in renewable energy projects, equipment supply, and technology transfer. Me being a girl and all, you know, we never forget. My brain has a way of stashing information somewhere until I touch my keyboard. It all comes flowing. Why are people in Botswana only concerned about Botswana (where I live) and are not out there talking about renewable energy to the world? My friends in Zimbabwe, who have been working very hard at this, should be getting the platform and connections to show off their research across the continent.

It is also common knowledge that Africa is rich in mineral resources such as gold, diamonds, copper, uranium, and oil. I am calling on companies in the mining and natural resources sector; why is everything a secret with you? Let us put those case studies out there and inspire a continent that offers significant opportunities for exploration, mining, and processing of these resources. I know that every country has its own regulatory framework and investment requirements, but I also know that many companies support this sector and are change-makers in their right. If you can do it in Nigeria, you can do it in Botswana and Malawi. One of my dream jobs, being a diamond and all myself, is to market the diamonds that Botswana produces to the world. There is so much we can do to tell that story.

One day is one day. My dreams come true.

I am a creative 😅 I think on my feet. I don’t have numbers and graphs to show right now, but I would produce proof if I had a gun pointed at my head.
